Hypromellose(HPMC)

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC), also known as Hypromellose, is a cellulose derivative where hydroxyl groups on the cellulose backbone are chemically modified with hydroxypropyl and methyl groups. This modification makes it soluble in cold water and gives it good film-forming, thickening, and emulsifying properties.

Pharmaceuticals Industry

  • Used as a controlled-release agent in tablets and capsules
  • A binder and coating agent for oral dosage forms
  • In eye drops and artificial tears as a lubricant and to retain moisture

Detergent Industry

HPMC is used to increase the viscosity of liquid detergents and cleaning products, giving them a better texture and making them easier to handle and apply.

Construction Industry

HPMC is used as a thickening agent and water-retaining agent in dry mortar. It ensures that the mortar has sufficient moisture for hydration reactions, thereby ensuring the strength of the mortar.
