Silicone Hydrophobic Agent

WS90 is a water-redispersible silicone water-repellent in powder form and used as a highly efficient additive. WS90 subtly combines two contradictory mechanisms (waterproof and dispersibility) together, so that the hydrophobic mortar can be stirred effectively and uniformly in a short time, and dry powder mortar products with strong hydrophobic properties can be formulated.

Excellent waterproofing

This material is derived from natural inorganic substances, and its hydrophobic function does not change with time or the surrounding environment. It is beneficial to improving the construction performance of the mortar, improving lubricity, reducing the shrinkage rate of dry powder mortar products, and reducing mortar cracking.

Mechanism of action of the silicone waterproofing agent

When the mortar is mixed with water, the protective colloidal shell of the silicone waterproofing agent quickly dissolves in the water and releases the encapsulated silanes, which are then redistributed in the mixing water. In the highly alkaline environment after hydration of the cement, the hydrophilic organic functional groups in the silane hydrolyse to form highly reactive silanol groups. The silanol groups then irreversibly react with the hydroxyl groups in the cement hydration products to form chemical bonds, thus firmly fixing the silanes linked together by cross-linking to the surface of the pore walls in the cement mortar. The hydrophobic organic functional groups face the outside of the pore wall, giving the pore surface a hydrophobic character and thus imparting an overall hydrophobic effect to the mortar.
